| This is me doing anything possible to avoid doing the work I need to do that 's due tomorrow. I'm realizing how stupid I am; I am really not saying anything of value. I'm stalling. Ummmmmm.....so a T-shirt and sandals today with the top down....in October....man, Michigan weather is so crazy! That reminds me, I'll almost the ripe old age of 24. OK, so I'm not near ripe. But I'm making progress: baby steps. Name that movie reference. I have to go, I actually have to go interact with ppl in real life as opposed to on the internet, how sweet is that.

| At school studying for an exam at 8...I can only wake up this early in hopes of getting to school and brewing some of the nastiest coffee ever. Nasty, but free. And somehow it tastes better with every sip. And boy, do I love being awake in class. Dear Caffeine, I think I'm falling for you. Arg.

| I'm sometimes reminded that I really have no idea what's going on. There's such a distance between me and "the know," it's really not even funny. But what is funny is how most of the time if you ask me I'll tell about how I've almost got it all figured out. Well, let's just say that's not true....ya, laugh it up.

| Selfishness. Animals do it...are we not simply animals trying to survive as best we can? Getting what we can; the best mate we can, the most protection we can, the best living we can? Survival of the fittest implies selfishness, as does competition. But then are we simply animals? I would argue otherwise. Then, therein lies the ultimate struggle for the human race: a fight against our nature for a better life. And not a better life in the terms mentioned earlier (get what you can.) A truly better life, defined by lasting happiness. So all we have to do is act again our nature and behave unselfishly. Right? You've heard the saying, "it's better to give than receive" and you've most likely experienced that fact. Giving makes you feels better, plus it benefits the receiver. I am living selfishly. And if you ask people about me they would probably tell you that I'm not an unusually selfish person. But we have to look at the things that we do and the motivations behind them. Why am I going to engineering school? To get a good job so I can make good money? To get to the point that I can work a job that I can enjoy and get a rewarding feeling from? And for the last five years this has been the major focus of my life. Not that that's neccessarily a misguided aim or a worthless mission, but honestly let's consider the motivation. So, turning to the Bible, it says that anyone who trys to find his life will lose it and he that loses his life will find it (paraphrase.) I interpret this to mean that if you act selfishly in order to find your life you'll lose it; you'll lose the better life that God wants us to live. And also the opposite is true. Lose your life, give it away by living unselfishly, and you'll find it. You'll find true joy that lasts, and in the process you will have benefited others. Win-win is a better way to do it. Also I see this as the difference between the spirit or flesh in the Bible. It says to live in the spirit and deny the flesh. Just imagine if everyone in the world acted unselfishly for just one day. That would be insanity; a 180. But let's be honest; it's never going to happen. If I tried now to be the change I want to see in the world, how far would I get? Probably not very. Selfishness is so inherent...I guess I'll have to work on that. Oh, and it just hit me that the word love is nearly synomymous with the word unselfishness. So, as usual it boils down to love. Just my thoughts, don't take them too seriously.

| Having just listened to first track on American Football's album, I am stunned. It was amazing. So if you haven't listened to any of their stuff, at least listen to that track; that is of course only if you're a fan of the kind-of-emo sound. Maybe I like it cause that's the mood I'm in: kind-of-emo. I'm at Noshville alone cause "school's out for summer" (the summer semester just got done) and I'm not working today and I'm kicked out of my house for a few hours while Ardvark Services fumigates for carpenter ants. I'm gonna make some calls and see if I can find a friend for some Goodwill hunting.
